More Than a Print Shop
Founded by wave rider Mitchell Rawlins, madebyplasma grew through surfing, product development, independent brands, artwork and years spent learning how things are made.What began as a need to create products and merchandise independently developed into a complete production house specialising in screenprinting, embroidery, apparel decoration, original products and live production activations.Today, madebyplasma works with global brands, local businesses, artists, sporting organisations and events across Australia, while continuing to develop its own products from Burleigh Heads.
Built in the Water
Before madebyplasma, there was surfing.
Years spent travelling and competing as a professional bodyboarder gave Mitch a firsthand understanding of products, athletes, artwork and the communities that form around independent brands.
Moving from athlete to product creator was a natural progression. Designing bodyboards and building brands became a practical education in product development, manufacturing, merchandise, wholesale and retail.
Instead of observing production from the outside, Mitch became increasingly involved in how every product was designed, produced and delivered.
The goal was never simply to put a logo on a product. It was to understand how it was made and make it better.
Learning by Making
Building independent brands meant learning every part of the process.
Product design led to manufacturing. Manufacturing led to merchandise. Merchandise led to screenprinting, embroidery, packaging, events and direct relationships with customers.
Each stage revealed another part of the process that could be improved, controlled or brought closer to home.
madebyplasma developed from the belief that creative ideas and physical production should remain connected. Bringing both into one operation created greater control over quality, communication, timing and the finished result.
Screenprinting was learned through repetition. Every screen exposed, colour mixed, print tested and production problem solved added another layer of knowledge.
That experience now supports everything from straightforward branded apparel to detailed multi-colour printing, repeat uniform programs, original products and major national campaigns.
Production, Brought to Life
As the workshop grew, madebyplasma began taking production outside its walls.
Live printing transformed manufacturing into something audiences could see, understand and participate in. Screenprinting, embroidery, heat transfers and customisation moved into retail stores, festivals, sporting events, cinemas and public spaces.
Instead of simply receiving merchandise, audiences could watch it being produced and take home something directly connected to the moment.
This changed merchandise from a product into part of the experience.
madebyplasma now creates scalable mobile production environments for compact retail spaces, major events and multi-service activations. Each format combines real production with audience engagement, limited editions and content creation.
We took the production house on the road and made the process part of the event.

From Burleigh Heads, madebyplasma has produced merchandise and apparel for global brands, major events, independent businesses and some of Australia's most recognised names in surf and culture.
The requirements change from project to project, but the responsibility remains the same: deliver every brand accurately, consistently and on time.
Our work has included technically demanding merchandise, urgent event programs, repeat production across multiple locations and limited editions created for a single moment.
A Production House With a Point of View.
Today, madebyplasma operates from its production workshop in Burleigh Heads on Australia's Gold Coast.
Screenprinting, embroidery, heat transfer application, product development and finishing are brought together within one connected production environment.
Keeping production in-house gives the team direct oversight of colour, placement, consistency, communication and deadlines. It also provides the flexibility to respond when campaigns change, events approach or clients need production completed under pressure.
But capability alone is not the point.
madebyplasma combines the discipline of commercial manufacturing with the perspective of an independent brand. We understand production from both sides because we manufacture for our clients while continuing to develop our own products and creative projects.
We produce for other brands with the same responsibility we bring to our own.
