The Production House

Production itself became part of the event.

This was more than a live merchandise activation. It was the creation of a fully functioning production environment that brought the story, process and culture of Alfred's Apartment to life.

Co-curated by Alfred's Apartment and madebyplasma, the activation opened with a major launch night before continuing as a two-day pop-up store. At its centre was an expansive 5 × 5 metre screenprinting workshop, designed to recreate the energy and operation of a working apparel production house.

Screenprinting, embroidery, heat transfers, patch applications and airbrushing were all performed live. Guests could watch garments move through each stage of production, interact with the process and experience the skill behind the finished product.

Rather than presenting merchandise as the final outcome, the activation made production itself part of the event.

Recreating Alfred's Production House

A working production environment, recreated in real time.

The concept was built around replicating Alfred's production environment in real time.

The space reflected the hands-on approach that helped shape Alfred's Apartment, bringing the machinery, techniques, people and creative energy normally found behind the scenes directly into the event.

Across the activation, madebyplasma operated multiple decoration processes from one integrated workshop:

  • Live screenprinting
  • Live embroidery
  • Heat-transfer applications
  • Custom patch applications
  • Live  custom  shirt airbrushing
  • Garment finishing and production

Each service added a different layer to the experience, allowing the activation to feel less like a conventional retail pop-up and more like a temporary working factory.

The scale of the workshop gave every production process room to operate while remaining open, visible and accessible to the audience. Guests were not separated from the making of the product. They were invited into it.

Part of the Event

Featured Highlights

Opening Night, Two-Day Pop-Up, Community Through Production

Opening Night

Opening night introduced the complete production environment at full scale. The workshop became a focal point for the launch, creating constant movement and interaction throughout the space. Machinery was running, garments were being produced and guests could see the collection take shape in front of them.

Live production gave the night an energy that static product displays could not replicate. Every garment carried a visible connection to the event because it had been created within it. This transformed merchandise into part of the experience rather than something positioned around its edges.

Two-Day Pop-Up Store

Following opening night, the workshop continued as a two-day pop-up store. The extended format allowed the activation to operate as both a retail environment and an active production space.

Guests could engage with the collection, explore the different decoration methods and see how each product was constructed and finished. Keeping the workshop operational across the full pop-up created a deeper experience than a single live demonstration.

Community Through Production

The activation was designed to communicate more than technical capability. It created a scene that reflected the people, relationships and collaborations that have shaped Alfred's Apartment. That story was expressed through action as people gathered around the machinery, watched garments being transformed and connected with the makers behind the work.
